Our Story

Christ the Rock Lutheran Church started when several families from the Carlsbad area decided that they were interested more in the pure teachings of God's Word and a reverent liturgy than sensationalistic worship and compromise for the sake of growth. From these faithful families came the desire to worship together in traditional ways; embracing the original teachings of the Bible, as taught by Dr. Martin Luther. With the discovery of an orthodox Lutheran ministry (called the "United Lutheran Missions Association" - ULMA) came the realization that they could gather together as they dreamed and be ministered to by faithful pastors from the Midwest. Their application to the ULMA, in December of 2008, was approved prior to their first worship service in February of 2009. Their desire for their own pastor was also realized quickly with the help of the ULMA. After meeting in various locations in the Carlsbad area (Hilton Gardens, Inns of America, etc.) they were blessed to discover that the brethren in ULMA would "adopt" them as a mission; allowing them to call their own pastor.

In April of 2009, Pastor William C. Mack was called to serve the fledgling congregation at Carlsbad. He accepted and he, and his wife, moved from Wisconsin to the sunny shores of southern California!

We currently hold our worship services at the Carlsbad Senior Center where we now worship at 10:15am on Sundays; holding Bible study at 9:00am and on Wednesdays (in private homes) at 7:00pm. We invite all to come and worship with us. Be a part of a dynamic family of Christ that desires to be true to the Scriptures and who want to reach out with His love and grace to all souls in the Carlsbad area. All are welcome!

"After these things I looked and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes with palm branches in their hands." (Revelation 7:9)
